Ensure your legacy continues
Plan for generations to come
Inheritance tax takes 40% of everything above your allowances, and the reliefs business owners and landlords have relied on are being cut back — from April 2027, unused pensions join the estate too. The planning that works takes years, not weeks. Starting early is most of the strategy.
Inheritance Tax Planning
From April 2026, only the first £1 million of business property gets 100% relief. Above that, your estate pays an effective 20% on a company you spent a lifetime building. We forecast your exposure and build a plan from the tools that still work: lifetime gifts and the seven-year rule, the extra allowance for passing on the family home, trusts where they earn their keep, Business Property Relief structured so you qualify, and life cover for what's left. We work with your solicitor and financial adviser so the will, the shareholding and the plan all agree.
- Estate valuation and inheritance tax exposure forecast
- Lifetime gifting strategy and the seven-year rule
- Nil-rate band and residence nil-rate band planning
- Business Property Relief: structuring and the £1m allowance
- Trusts and life cover, assessed case by case
Property Tax & Planning
If your rental income is over £50,000 you're now in Making Tax Digital: digital records and quarterly updates to HMRC, not one return in January. Property tax has become a specialism of its own — restricted mortgage interest relief, 60-day capital gains reporting, VAT on commercial property, and whether to hold through a company at all. We handle the compliance for landlords and property companies, and we plan ahead: incorporating when it pays, timing disposals for relief, and structuring portfolios so the next generation inherits the property, not the tax bill.
- Rental accounts and Self Assessment for landlords
- Making Tax Digital set-up and quarterly updates
- Mortgage interest relief and allowable expenses done properly
- Incorporation reviews: when a company structure pays
- Capital gains on disposals, VAT on commercial property, inheritance tax on portfolios
